Dear ABC Preschool and Pine Japanese Language School Families,
I would like to announce that we raised $2,077.15 at the craft sale held in front of Japantown’s Kinokuniya on Saturday, December 7, sponsored by “ABC Niji no Kai”, to support the children
affected by the Northeastern Japan earthquake.
Half of the proceeds will go towards the Ashinaga Scholarship fund to support the establishment of the Northeast Rainbow House. The other half of the proceeds will be used to purchase educational materials for the Takata Child Care Facility in Rikuzentakata city, Iwata Prefecture.
Several mental health care facilities, named “Northeast Rainbow House”, and constructed for the children orphaned by the earthquake, are close to being completed. In addition, Takata Child Care Facility is working towards constructing a new building, and by next fall, plans to move from its current temporary location to the new building. A portion of our funds will be used to make
improvements to the new building.
“ABC Niji no Kai”, an organization created by affiliates of ABC Preschool in March 2011, has organized 10 fundraising events (craft/bake sales) to date. “ABC Niji no Kai” has sent over $30,000 of funds to Northeast Japan to date. From these efforts, “ABC Niji no Kai” has established a reputation in the community. However, as I mentioned earlier, as we are close to reaching our fundraising goal of supporting the Northeast Japan earthquake victims, we plan to dissolve our group after the charity concert, which will be held in March 2014.
Finally, I would like to express my deep gratitude to San Francisco Japantown’s Kinokuniya for letting us use their space, tables, chairs, without charge during the craft sales in Japantown. In addition, I would really like to thank the balloon artists, generous donors, those who donated craft items, and those who purchased craft items. I would also like to thank the ABC Preschool and Pine Afterschool families who contributed to the success of the craft sale, by helping in the planning and setting up of the sale.
We hope to make our last event, the charity concert, our most successful event, so that we can continue to support the Northeast Japan children affected by the earthquake.

去る12月7日（土）日本町紀伊国屋書店前で行われました「ABC虹の会」主催によります東北震災被災児支援のためのクラフトセールでは皆様のご支援のもと、2,077.15ドルの支援金を集めることができましたことを報告いたします。
半額を東北レインボーハウス設立のための資金として「あしなが育英会」へ、さらに半額は岩手県陸前高田市立高田保育所への教材支援金として使わせていただきます。
震災遺児のための「心のケアハウス：東北レインボーハウス」はすでに東北の数か所で建設がはじまっており、完成も間近となりました。私たち「虹の会」の当初の目的である施設設立のための支援もゴールに近づいて参りました。
また、高田保育所は新築の園舎建設に向けすでに動き出しており、現在の仮の園舎から来年の秋には引っ越しの予定です。私たちのこれまでの支援金の一部は新園舎の設備充実のために使われる予定となっております。
2011年3月、東北震災直後にABCプリスクール関係者で結成されました「ABC虹の会」によります募金活動（クラフト/ベークセール）は、今回ですでに10回を数えました。また東北に送られた支援金は、これまでに30,000ドルを超えます。こうして募金活動を続けることができましたことは、皆様のご協力の賜物と心より感謝申し上げます。おかげさまで「虹の会」の名前もコミュニティーに定着してまいりました。が、先に述べましたとおり、私たちの東北支援の当初の目的も貫徹間近ということで、次回、3月におこなわれますチャリティーコンサートをもちまして解散と決定いたしましたことをこの場をお借りし報告させていただきます。
最後になりましたが、このたびの日本町でのクラフトセールにおきまして、セールのためのスペース、テーブル、いす等の備品を無償でお貸しくださいましたサンフランシスコ日本町紀伊国屋書店様に心より感謝を申し上げます。
またバルーンアートの皆様、たくさんの寄付金をいただきました方々、クラフト商品をご寄付いただきました皆様、たくさんの商品をお買い求めいただきました皆様、本当にありがとうございました。
とりわけ、企画、準備等お手伝いいただきこのセールを成功に導いて下さいましたABCプリスクール、パイン日本語アフタースクールご家族の皆様にこの場をお借りし、関係者一同、心より御礼申し上げます。
私たちの活動もあますところ、チャリティーコンサートを残すばかりとなりましたが、今後も東北の子どもたちの支援を続けることができますよう、どうぞよろしくお願い申し上げます。
